I never expected to enjoy this book so much. I'd be lying if I said it didn't take several tries and restarts before I finally surrendered my mind and set sail into a uniquely written book.
 Let's dissect it. I am a die-hard Peter Pan fan and have always had a soft spot for Hook. What can I say, I'm a sucker for bad guys. My first failed attempt, I went in thinking this book was very cheesey and didn't grab my attention. So I tried again and ended up getting lost in the pages.

I was completely engrossed in the story as it unfolded. The gore, the descriptions, and the sick erotic fantasies that played out on the pages made me wonder about my own sick desires. This book has everything. The fear, the desire for more mayhem, the lustful desires had me in a trance...
This is not a book for the faint of heart. If you're looking for a happily ever after lovey-dovey romance novel, look elsewhere. This is for the sick and twisted minds of villains. Those who have given up on fairytale endings. This is for fans of Grim, Dark, and devilishly spun fairytales.

I had trouble distinguishing between JM Barrie's original story and this one, but they are not the same. It takes you to a darker side and transports your mind to a realm of euphoria in a sick and twisted way that lasts until morning.

"This Review Goes to 11" Traction gets 4 stars for being the very bestest management book I have read. Unfortunately, that's a scale that maxes out at four. Thus I've proven that business management literature is the antithesis of SpinalTap. Here's what Traction does right: Everything. There are clear plans and tools and strategies for getting a business at least looking in the right direction. How do I know? I've been using them, and they seem to be working. At least nobody's punched me yet - which might be as good as one could expect for anybody who takes a consultant's advice. Here's what Traction does wrong: Cute-ness. This isn't really a severe flaw - more likely it's a problem of the genre. Everything must have a special name in business books. It's a rule. "TO DO LIST" is far too simple, and wouldn't sell any books. "ACCOUNTABILITY ACTION MATRIX" sounds like an MBA, and an MBA = smarter than me. (this is not a real example from Traction. it's what English majors call hyperboleeeeeeeeeee - which means using too many letters to make a point.) Soooo, if you were really bad in a past life, and you now find yourself having to manage an organization, I highly recommend that you read this book. Also, "Five Disfunctions of a Team". Between those two books, you should at least have the skill set necessary to steer a small financial management company through the worst stock market since the Depression. Or so I've heard.

There are a lot of things to like in this book: don't be a victim, take responsibility for your own actions and future, work hard, be resilient, persist. Grant isn't afraid to tell you that success is going to take work and that it will be difficult, and those are the highlights of the book. The TL:DR of this book is this: the answer to every question in your life is to take "massive action." That's it. No matter the question, the answer is always massive action. And honestly, that works for Grant and his wife. They're on the same page with what their version of success looks like, and they will do anything it takes to get there. The real challenge is when discussing tradeoffs/compromises or these other things that Grant doesn't really believe in. Working 18 hours a day doesn't mean you're sacrificing your family, health, or spiritual life to Grant. He's just 10x'ing those things as well. How you ask? Just do it man. Be in it to win it. Time management? Grant doesn't believe in time management. Just massive action. Seriously, those are his answers for how to have it all in every area of life. The closest he gets to providing a tangible solution for success with his family is spending 1 hour in the morning grocery shopping with his daughter. I'm not being a "hater", I like Grant Cardone. The world needs Grant Cardones. They create great disruption and drive things forward, but the world also needs people to piece together the mess that is left in Grant's wake. He's a chaos generator, constantly creating "new problems." Again, not a bad thing -- but you need a lot of do-ers, "middle-class", or average joes to make the whole machine work as well. I would use the analogy of a baseball lineup. Grant Cardone is a home run hitter. He's swinging for the fences, baby. Every at bat, every situation, he's swinging for the fences. You hit a lot of home runs this way, and you strike out a lot this way too. You need the egotistical home run hitter on your team. But you also need the base hitter, the base stealer, the sacrifice bunter. The cameras go to Grant, the home-run hitter. He's celebrated for his success and garners the attention. But what if the base hitter doesn't want that? What if he wants to do well, get on base consistently, but doesn't aspire to have the cameras in his face? Isn't that also success? Same for economics and the game of life. If everyone was a Grant Cardone we'd just have a bunch of self-absorbed chaos creators wreaking havoc everywhere they went. Again, this is something we need but becomes a recipe for disaster if we prescribe this solution for everyone. Overall, it's a great book if you'e in a funk and feeling sorry for yourself. It's likely that his tough love will motivate you enough to take some action. As far as being what he actually promises -- the answer to success in all areas of life -- it's pretty meh. Massive action is great thing, but the world is far more complex than having one answer be the answer for everything.

Mixed feelings about this one. Started off very interesting and I highlighted LOADS of phrases but towards the end it became incredibly repetitive I mean literally the same sentence over and over again. I don&rsquo;t think it needed to be this long at ALL and would have been nicer as a more concise, smaller book as this just made me feel bleh about it. However, loved how compact and short the chapters were and how they were divided into different issues, lists and how to dos. I learnt a lot of new and invaluable things so overall it&rsquo;s much worth the read for your mental health

Some of the characters in The Thursday Murder Club are hilarious. I fell in love with both Elizabeth and Joyce right away. However, there are far too many characters. It's difficult to keep them straight, especially since some are mentioned briefly and then disappear for several chapters. The British wit is fantastic. While the elderly group solves everything and is ultimately the only ones who know the whole truth, the police are not completely inept. I certainly didn't have it all figured out by the end, but it all fit together in a logical way. This is a good book

At first, I found myself perplexed by the tone of the novel. It felt less like I was reading a mental health professional, and more like I was reading an old detective novel. What should have been a read that sucked me in and went quickly, was instead painfully slow. I felt the book crawling, and found the writing to be dry, rife with short statement sentences that made the music of the book tonally flat. I haven&rsquo;t read anything else by Alex Michaelides- though The Maidens is in my TBR list- and I don&rsquo;t know if this is the author&rsquo;s voice, or if it&rsquo;s just this particular novel&rsquo;s tone, but it was thoroughly unenjoyable and I found myself waiting for it to pick up. Finally, it did- at least I thought so. We got into more character development, more from Alicia&rsquo;s perspective, but&hellip; this is where I found the most fault. The formatting of this novel is downright bizarre: Each part resets the count of the chapters, which was aggravating to say the least. That is a method I&rsquo;ve seen used in non-fiction but never in fiction, and I found myself irritated. Not only that, but throughout the novel are Alicia&rsquo;s &ldquo;diary entries&rdquo;, bits of story told from her perspective. But this pissed me off! They are titled diary entries, and she even explains she&rsquo;s writing down her thoughts: But they&rsquo;re written like scenes. Many of them contain full back and forth dialogue, with perfect recollection. I would have rather seen them just as they were: Alicia&rsquo;s point of view scenes. Having them be &ldquo;diary entries&rdquo; was angering, because they weren&rsquo;t. Diary entries, when written by a character, are not written in this way. I found it distracting, taking me out of the book and unable to connect with Alicia. The wonky formatting did nothing but lower my opinion of this book, and make it impossible to relax into the novel. As the book went on, I became increasingly aware of two more things I despised: The way mental health is handled, for one, and sexual commentary through Alicia&rsquo;s point of view, for another. On the first point, this is a book steeped in mental health, with most of the cast of characters being therapists or doctors- or having mental health issues. Some areas are done well, but some are done so horribly that it makes me shudder to think of people reading this book and taking this portrayal as fact. The opinion of main character Theo regarding the patients at The Grove can sometimes be not only ignorant, but offensive. I think a lot of the mental health related moments in this book are poorly researched, or just poorly presented. As for my second point: Moments where Alicia described her husband, and her feelings for him, were often cringeworthy to read. She was written with this idolization of him, this passionate desire for him in perfectly normal, everyday situations. It was as if reading one of those internet memes about &ldquo;men writing women&rdquo;. I think it was unappealing, poorly done, and bordering on unrealistic. I found myself wondering why the abrupt sexual commentary was in this book at all- because it popped up more than once. The one decent thing I can say about this story is that it has all the beats of a good story- even if they&rsquo;re poorly done. There are decent bits of character descriptions when they get introduced, the story idea is solid, and there were some parts that weren&rsquo;t so bad. But the way this story is told was horrendous. Shifting timelines lead to a really big payoff to the mystery- but only if you don&rsquo;t figure it out before you get there, and unfortunately, there were some fairly big tells for the end if you are an experienced reader of thrillers, or if you were paying enough attention. Not only that, but there are some storylines that go unanswered, and they feel like they were just there to distract and trick. I felt like the end reveal was the focus and everything that led up to it was just meant to be a distraction, instead of a real part of the story. It was annoying to see all these ideas go nowhere. Most of all, the thing that infuriated me the most was that the entire book is about one simple question. Why is Alicia silent- why doesn&rsquo;t she talk? Only, the answer to this is not a good one. It&rsquo;s deeply metaphoric, surrounded by a Greek myth, full of intrigue- but the payoff is so poor, and it leaves a lot to be desired. The most important aspect of this book, and it&rsquo;s utterly disappointing. Overall, this book is probably a 3/5. But I chose to give it a 2/5 because of my struggle to get through it, and my disappointment in comparison to the hype. I regret wasting my time reading it. I write about mental health all the time- so to see this book, a poor excuse for representation, get so much undeserved hype makes me all the more upset. This is a slow, agonizing read that made me grit my teeth, and I hope those who read it are not easily fooled by the tricks that cover up what is an amazing plot turned into mush by poor writing.

This book actually refreshed my view and my mindset of what work should be like. For years now, I have found myself struggling because I wasn&rsquo;t sure what I was passionate enough about to turn into a career. Sure, I like a lot of things: sport, baking and socializing, to name a few. But I couldn&rsquo;t grasp how to turn this into &lsquo;meaningful&rsquo; work. I mean, I love animals, I&rsquo;m sure we all do (unless you&rsquo;re a psychopath), but we can&rsquo;t all become vets&hellip; it&rsquo;s unrealistic.
However, after reading Newport&rsquo;s book, I feel content in the idea that I need to find my niche; something I&rsquo;m good at, and just focus on that. Like everyone else, I need to develop skills and values before I can gain control and mission in my career.
Apart from the fourth and final chapter being seemingly obvious, my only other criticism is that Newport presents many relevant positive and negative stories of career success throughout his book. However, nearly every negative story appears to focus on a woman and most positive stories are about males. Although I am sure not intentional, it was a recurring thought I had throughout the entirety of the book,
To conclude, Newport&rsquo;s book drew me in. I think his book is not only well written and concise, but I also find it novel, refreshing and realistic. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels they are stuck in a &lsquo;rut&rsquo;, trying to figure out what to do with their lives or in their careers.

Despite all the review books I have waiting for me, my curiosity about Ugly Love's enormous popularity prompted me to purchase this one! Ugly Love is a defining modern romance story that is emotional and gut punching from beginning to end.

Discovering Colleen Hoover's writing has been one of my book-related highlights this year. This best-selling author has now written five books that I have read. When I first started seeing so many Colleen Hoover books on my Instagram account feed, I didn't believe all the hype. However, thanks to Ugly Love and the other backlist titles I've read by this global phenomenon, I'm now a CoHo convert.

Ugly Love contains some heavy themes and triggers, so potential readers should proceed with caution. In my opinion, the content was handled sensitively, and while it was upsetting to read, I was able to move past it and appreciate the true story behind this title. Hoover handles the progression of this story and the related love situation well, owing to her clear writing direction and engaging cast. I liked the alternating narration style, and I connected with the previous story involving the male lead, Miles. Hoover was building to a crushing crescendo involving the reason Miles is such a damaged man, and I could see it. I was exhausted by the time the big reveal arrived. What an unexpected turn of events! The story's high emotion, which feels like a rollercoaster at times, is offset by some raunchy moments between Tate and Miles. Ugly Love definitely packs a punch in terms of sizzle!

Overall, I couldn't take my gaze away from this one. Ugly Love is certainly deserving of all the attention it has received!

This system was mentioned on NPR. They said hi-tech junkies were hooked on its low tech system of organizing 'your life'. As a result, I read it. At first glance, it appeared to be another of those books aimed squarely at managers and the clueless laptop-toting execu-troids I support in my job. When you read it, the language is hazy and feels like an infomercial. There is a lot of name dropping, and I can see how it would appeal to the people who force the entire IT department to attend a large meeting to watch the video version of "Who Moved My Cheese" right before the big round of layoffs.

But as I read it, I was able to see through the fog of seminar speak and extract some functional gems. That double-talk has gold in it! (If you're willing to look.)

I recently finished the book. Now I'm going through it again to simplify the information and create a system that I can manage. To be fair, the author recommends it. He says numerous times in the book that you can modify the system to meet your specific needs. He goes into far too much detail on trivial points and leaves out some details that I believe should be clarified. If you read it a few times and refer back to earlier passages as you go, you'll figure out what he meant.

I like the part where you write down or record everything that comes to mind. I have a lot of ideas that I lose track of and then have to figure out again later. The Next Actions list and the "Tickler File" / Calendar that you can use to remind yourself about things you might be interested in later but don't have time to think about right now are two of my favorite features. The two-minute rule is fantastic. I began implementing it the moment I read it, and my life has already improved. I like the part where you get rid of all the junk you don't need lying around. However, I doubt there will ever be a 'delegate' box on my flowchart. That's where I believe it's aimed at managers rather than workers.

Because of all the double talk and repetition, I want to give the "GTD" system four stars and the actual book three. If you need this system, you'll love it; if you don't, you'll despise it. Regarding previous reviewers who stated that it changed their lives, This book is about "getting stuff done," not meditation. It's all about output. (Whatever that entails.) I'm using it to streamline the way I handle day-to-day tasks that I've never been able to master. You might find it useful if you feel like you spend your time reacting to events rather than creating them.

So we can say that his teachings are based on his own experiences, which taught him what works and what doesn't. Although he frequently states that what works for him may not work for everyone, anyone can apply these teachings, learn and unlearn based on what they believe is best for them.

The book begins with an emphasis on changing the traditional business mindset, analyzing current business, preparing your online presence, and so on, and then he goes on to explain the importance of sales funnels and their creation, identifying appropriate strategies, creating your business story, copywriting, growth hacks, process automation, and scaling your online business.
The book is suitable for beginners, and technical terms are explained in simple terms. However, the language is sometimes too informal, which is not always preferable for me. The book is intended for aspiring entrepreneurs, professionals, business owners, and anyone looking to improve their digital skills. It can also help content creators and sales/marketing professionals grow their brands.

I was nervous about purchasing "It Ends With Us," Colleen Hoover's most popular book on BookTok. I was concerned that how I felt about this book would influence how I judged other books I discovered through TikTok in the future. I was even more nervous about writing a review for it because "It Ends With Us" raised the bar not only for all other new adult fiction books, but for all fiction books in general. I now understand why this book and its characters have a cult following.

I found the storyline to be slow-paced when describing Bloom's previous relationship with Corrigan because I was preoccupied with Bloom's current relationship with Kincaid.

She wanted to demonstrate how morally ambiguous domestic abuse can appear when true, romantic love is at stake. I believe Hoover wrote this book specifically to introduce this viewpoint into the new adult genre. According to Georgia's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, 38.6% of women experience intimate partner violence for the first time between the ages of 18 and 24. As a woman in this age group whose friends are all women in this age group, I feel compelled to recommend this book to others.

As a word of caution, I would look up the trigger warnings for this book before purchasing it, as there was one point in the book when I wondered if I would have to put it down. Despite the sensitive subject matter, Hoover wrote heartbreaking scenes with such ease that the story flowed well enough that I didn't need a break. When reading books with a lot of emotional turmoil, I often need a lot of details to fully understand every crevice in the protagonist's mind. Hoover, on the other hand, was able to earn my love &mdash; and deep trust &mdash; for the characters throughout the book and alongside the protagonist without relying on extreme specifics. The book had a lot of highs and lows.

While "It Ends With Us" is not a romance story, it is a love story. It's a love story about choosing oneself over someone one deeply loves; it's about choosing to end a cycle of violence that harms more people than it helps. This book taught me how women in domestic violence situations may feel torn between someone for whom they made a vow and their own personal well-being and safety. Domestic violence is more nuanced and complex than most people realize. I'm sorry to say that, like Bloom, I fell in love with the abuser while reading this book. I made excuses for him and told myself, "Just give him another chance."

I attempted to get more information on the upcoming sequel, "It Starts With Us," which is set to be released in October 2022, through an Instagram interaction with Hoover. I requested that Hoover not "be mean to [Corrigan] in the new book." "Neverrer," she said. Fans speculated about the new book because of the typo and extra letters in her response. "It Starts With Us" will most likely focus on the aftermath of domestic violence and the rebuilding of the three main characters' relationships.
I put the book down after finishing it because I felt compelled to run to Bema and scream. The ending is both beautiful and necessary &mdash; I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
